Discord integration for PlayStation has arrived. At this point, users encountered a warning text from Discord about whether they would like to connect their accounts to PlayStation Network. Thus, if you are playing cross-platform games with your friends, you are not disconnected from communication.
Sony CEO Jim Ryan first announced the integration in May 2021. Meanwhile, Sony was making a minority investment in Discord. At that time, it was predicted that the system would work similarly to the Xbox. However, there was no definitive judgment. A clear answer has now been given to such assumptions.
Discord feature started rolling out gradually
Linking your PSN account allows others to see what you’re playing on your PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. For example, if you are playing God of War on your console, it appears to these users just like on PC. In addition, as with Discord’s other linked services, you get the option to view and disable your PSN name.
Feature not available in all countries at the moment. So it’s limited to the USA. However, as of today, it is gradually coming to other countries gradually. Although this option does not directly change anything for PC players, we can take it as a quality of life update. Discord currently states that the feature is great at letting your friend know what you’re playing.
How to integrate PlayStation and Discord?
- Open Discord.
- Access the User Settings menu.
- Select Links.
- Click the PlayStation logo from the Link Your Accounts menu.
- Enter your PlayStation Network information in the relevant section.
- Your account has been successfully linked.
