Canadian startup Capsolar announced that they have developed solar panels that can be adapted to any low-speed electric vehicle without any extra modification and special work. The company says the photovoltaic module has an efficiency of 21.3%.

They focus on increasing efficiency

Electric vehicles are gaining more and more importance every day, thanks to their environmental friendliness. However, the fact that most of the energy used in these vehicles is obtained from sources such as coal or natural gas reduces the environmental positive impact. Renewable energy sources also come into play in this regard.

Capsolar, which is working on the subject, recently introduced its photovoltaic modules called SM-550. The module, which is 2100 mm long, 1320 mm wide and 25 mm thick, has a weight of 30 kg. While it offers 21.3% energy conversion efficiency, it can operate at a maximum temperature of 45°C while driving and at 55°C when parked.

The module, which realizes all these thanks to its 24% efficient solar cells, also offers IP67 protection. In the tests performed, it was seen that an average of 17% increase in range per day was achieved, with a peak of 26% on sunny days.

The solar panel itself is completely flexible but when mounted in our structure it conforms to the desired shape and hardens. ” said.

Capsolar states that they are currently investigating ways to increase efficiency. The company will focus on integrating renewable energy solutions into more electric vehicles in the future.
