With Android 16, Google aims to offer users a stronger security storage. The new advanced defense mode will enable applications to take additional measures compared to users’ safety levels.
The new advanced defense mode will allow applications to automatically activate security measures. Well, how will this new feature work and what advantages will users get?
User is taking valuable steps in defense
Android 16’s advanced storage mode is based on the advanced defense program that Google has previously launched. This program will prevent users from defending their accounts with security keys and uploading application from outsourcing. By further strengthening these security measures, Android 16 will disable the 2G relationship and will enable MTE (Memory Taging Extension) that helps to identify memory vulnerabilities in applications.
The new feature will also offer an API that allows the applications of developers to detect users registered to Advanced Protection. Thanks to this API, for example, an application for Signal will automatically activate a screen lock or screen image compared to users’ safety level. However, in the current beta version of the Android 16, additional settings will need to use this feature. When Google officially provides this supervision, it is very curious how widely the applications will use this API.
The new security features offered by Android 16 have the potential to increase users’ online safety. However, how effective this conservation will be will be shaped depending on the extent to which the applications support these features.
