You can use anti-virus software to protect against viruses and a VPN to protect your online privacy, however, protecting your devices from physical attacks can be much more difficult. A project called BusKill, which aims to ensure security in this area, has produced a special USB magnetic detachable cable that protects the laptop computer.
If someone else takes your device away, the magnetic connections of BusKill’s proprietary USB cable are disconnected and the computer automatically locks. This type of security measure can serve everything from the average user to journalists, politicians and more. Persons at risk can use this product to prevent their devices and data from falling into the wrong hands.
The creators of BusKill announced that they have been working on this project for over two years. The first version was developed as a do-it-yourself project that allowed anyone with the hardware to compile the source code, but until now it only worked on Linux. Now it now supports macOS, Windows and Linux operating systems. The cable retails for $59.
