According to new research, the RDR1 protein found in plants greatly inhibits cancer cell proliferation by directly targeting the cell cycle. In experiments with mouse models, the scientists discovered that the RDR1 protein can inhibit the progression of various solid tumors and leukemia.
In the new method developed, the RDR1 protein was used to repair defects in microRNA, which is approximately 21-23 nucleotides long in cancer cells. In this way, an anti-tumor effect was achieved and thus a new strategy for editing microRNA was developed. It was emphasized that the new method is a powerful weapon against cancer.
