Adapted for the big screen from Frank Herbert’s cult fantasy-sci-fi series, Dune is very popular with star names such as Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Jason Mamoa, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem; Described as a ‘visual feast’ by many, the film crowned its success with a solid box office win. As such, the fans of the books and the movie began to wait excitedly for the second movie, Dune: Part 2.
Director Denis Villeneuve, who made a throne in the hearts of movie lovers with his works such as Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Incendies and Prisoners, which he has revealed in recent years, and who added popularity to his popularity with Dune, previously stated that the script of the movie was completed. Villeneuve has now made new statements for Dune: Part 2, which has not yet started shooting.
“Probably the biggest challenge of my career”
Paul’s story, which joins the Fremen at the end of the first movie, will pick up where it left off in Dune: Part 2. The film, which will benefit from more IMAX footage to convey the Desert Planet Arakis to the audience in a more impressive way, is expected to be released in October 2023 without any delay. However, Villeneuve states that the movie will focus more on the villains of the story, the Harkonnen dynasty.
In an interview with ET Canada, Villeneuve notes that Dune: Part 2 will be the ‘most challenging’ of his career so far. The director, who does not want to give much details about the film, which will begin preparations on March 28, right after the Oscar Awards, said, “It will be busy. I am preparing now. We will start preparations as soon as we leave Los Angeles on Monday morning. I can’t say anything about the film – projects I don’t like talking about it while I’m doing it – but it’s probably going to be the biggest challenge of my career because it’s even more complicated than Part One.” uses expressions.
Villeneuve had previously noted that some characters, such as Chani, played by Zendaya and rarely seen in the first film, will have more complementary roles to the story in Dune: Part 2. However, there are rumors that Florence Pugh, one of the popular actresses of the last period, may also be included in the series and that a third film may be made to continue the story of Paul and Chani. Considering how large-scale even Dune: Part 2 is, it can be said that including a third movie in the series would make Villeneuve’s job much more difficult.
