To make laptops thinner, both manufacturers and chip designers have developed different methods to date. When it comes to mobile processors, mobile video cards, thin SSD drives, RAM memories are also different.
What is CAMM memory?
The new RAM module technology called CAMM (Compression Attached Memory Module), introduced by Dell, is 57 percent thinner than traditional SODIMM designs and can accommodate up to 128GB of capacity in this thinness.

In the CAMM module, multiple memory membranes are assembled on a single circuit board and the module is located on a single face. Memory capacities ranging from 16GB DDR5 to 128GB DDR5 are used.
Each board is connected to the motherboard via a CAMM compression connector. Again, each module has its own programmable memory circuit board. CAMM modules can also include SODIMM connections if standard connection is needed. Since CAMM technology is very new, it is far from widespread use for now. It will progress as other PC manufacturers adopt it. It will be used in Dell Precision 7770 and 7760 performance laptops in the first place.
