Dell has officially announced its first Snapdragon-powered laptop. The new Dell Inspiron 14 will go on sale this month and will be more affordable than other configurations. With the arrival of Dell, new blood has entered Arm-based Windows laptops, but there are not as many models as desired yet.

Snapdragon support for Inspiron 14

The new Inspiron 14, as the name suggests, has a 14-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) display. While this screen has an anti-glare LED panel, there is Windows 11 inside the device. On the hardware side, there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 platform with Adreno 690 graphics, 8GB LPDDR4x memory and 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. It should be noted that the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, which was released in September 2020, is not the latest model and has been updated with the Gen 3 version at the end of 2021.

The new Arm-based Inspiron 14 also has two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C ports, one USB 2.0 Type A port, a headphone jack and a microSD card reader. In addition to these, 1080p webcam, microphone, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support are also included in the product.

Ambitious with battery life

Saying that it can play HD video for up to 16 hours with its two-cell 40 Wh battery, Dell promises a noise-free experience thanks to Snapdragon and SSDs. On the dimensions side, the new Arm-based Inspiron 14 has a thickness of 18.99 mm at its thickest point and weighs 1.44 kilograms. It should also be noted that there is no backlight on the keyboard of the device, which comes in a silver color option.

Dell has pre-ordered the New Inspiron 14 for $499. While it is reported that the orderers will receive the device on March 23, there are also traditional x86 options for Inspiron 14 to choose from. The system based on AMD Ryzen 7 5825U is waiting for $ 579, while the system based on Intel Core i7-1255U is waiting for its buyers for $ 649.
