AMD introduced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D model produced with 7nm technology at the CES2022 event. A Twitter user announced that he broke the overclocking lock on his Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D model, which has Zen 3 architecture, will be the first and only processor with 3D V-Cache technology. The processor, which has 8 cores and 16 threads, has 100 MB of combined cache. The model, which runs at 3.4GHz clock speed as standard, can reach 4.5GHz with 105 TDP.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D’s overclocking lock is broken
Robert Hallock from the AMD team made a statement about the overclocking limitation of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Stating that a limitation has been introduced to prevent V-Cache technology from being damaged, Hallock said that the processor has a constant overclocking feature.
With the Ryzen 7 5800X3D model, 4.5GHz clock speed can be achieved thanks to its constant overclocking feature. Processors with AMD Zen 3 architecture can go up to 1.5 to 1.6 V with overclocking, while 3D V-Cache only supports up to 1.35 V.
Twitter user named SkatterBencher announced that he can reach 4.82GHz clock speed with Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The user, who shared the CPU-z image, underlined that high frequencies can be reached with 1.306V.
SkatterBencher, stating that he has been working with ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme motherboard, said that he will publish a video soon.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is way ahead of Intel’s flagship Core i9-12900K in terms of price/performance. Analysts state that AMD will take the competition in the desktop processor market to the next level with the AM4 platform.
