Nvidia, which recently announced the RTX 40 series graphics cards with Ada Lovelace architecture, continues its support for the Ampere series. In fact, a new update was made specifically for the RTX 3060 among these models. Now the GPU giant plans to make its mid-range graphics card more competitive. While production continues, prices may soon drop. Here are the details

RTX 3060 will be more competitive

According to information from Board Channels, Nvidia plans to continue the distribution of RTX 3060 at least until the first quarter of 2024. After this date, it will depend on the decision of the manufacturers. In other words, sales may continue for a while depending on the interest of the users.

For those who don’t know, Nvidia phases out the production of old models about a year after the new generation graphics cards. At this point, let us point out that RTX 4060 was introduced last June. Therefore, the fate of the RTX 3060 seems to change towards AI GPUs or demand from users.

For those who missed it, as the RTX 3060 approaches its third anniversary, prices are generally hovering around $330 (MSRP), whether it’s the original 12GB model or the 8GB version. However, this may change soon. According to the report, Nvidia wants the cards to be priced below $280 in the new batch. This strategy will make the graphics card more competitive against AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and Radeon RX 6750 GRE.

It is currently unclear how much this demand will affect end users. It will be up to the manufacturers to comply with this recommendation. However, in our country, there is an unbalanced pricing between the RTX 4060 and 3060 models. So much so that we see that both models are sold at prices close to each other. Therefore, discounts may be imminent.
