Do you think we’re getting close to having the AI of KITT in Black Lightning in our cars? Perhaps… Mercedes-Benz has announced a new partnership that will allow owners of certain models to access OpenAI’s ChatGPT via Mercedes’ voice assistant.
Mercedes-Benz announced in a press release that it will use Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service as part of a quarterly beta program, and 900,000 vehicles will be able to use ChatGPT if the company has MBUX infotainment system. Mercedes-Benz states that owners of these vehicles can register for the beta program through the Mercedes me app or simply by saying “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program” while in their vehicle.
The automaker says they will protect customer data from this test against manipulation and abuse. He also adds that they will closely monitor potential risks when drivers use ChatGPT in their vehicles.
