As the WWDC 2023 event approaches, Apple has shared a report revealing the usage rates of iOS versions. Recent data showed that more than 80 percent of all actively used iPhones have iOS 16 and higher. So, is Apple satisfied with this rate?
81 percent of all iPhones use iOS 16
Apple released iOS 16 last September and managed to capture a significant user base in a relatively short time. The usage rate of iOS 16 on all active iPhones has approached 81 percent. This figure seems quite ahead, especially when compared to Android 13.
In fact, it should be said that the use of over 80 percent is not surprising. In the analysis published earlier this year, it was reported that 72 percent of iPhone users upgraded to iOS 16. On the other hand, 71 percent of all iPads have upgraded to iPadOS 16.
When the iPhones released in the last four years are examined, the usage rate of iOS 16 reaches 90 percent. This statistic also shows that Apple users are eager for new versions. 8 percent of these models are still running iOS 15, while 2 percent are on older versions.
On the Android side, it should be noted that there is a much slower progress. Android 13, which was released in October, was used on approximately 12.1 percent of all devices as of April.
On the other hand, some time ago, iPhone users started to complain about iOS 16.5 battery performance. Users who voiced their criticism of the new update on Twitter said that some models had reduced battery life. However, Apple reported that this is not true.
