NFT platform OpenSea announced that user emails were leaked in a blog post shared on its official Twitter account. OpenSea stated that the person who leaked the data was one of the employees of the company, its e-mail partner customer.io, and that they were working in cooperation with customer.io and law enforcement on this issue.
Data breach in OpenSea
NFT marketplace OpenSea has reported a data breach affecting the personally identifiable information (PII) of customers subscribed to the company’s mailing list. The company emphasized that the leaked data consisted only of emails.
The frequent occurrence of such leaks indicates that email newsletter management platforms and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software are weak points for crypto firms. Finally, in March, Hubspot, a platform similar to Customer.io, was hacked.
