With the development of technology and science, positive progress is experienced in many fields. However, there are some developments that, although they seem good, have the potential to have very dangerous consequences. A thought-provoking development took place in the USA, which is one of the most well-known countries in this field.

Genetically modified mosquitoes army is being released in California

British biotechnology company Oxitec has come up with an interesting news. According to the Los Angeles Times, the US government has taken a number of initiatives to protect half of the world’s population from Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which can spread deadly diseases such as yellow fever, chikungunya and dengue fever to humans.

Acting in partnership with Oxitec in line with these initiatives, the USA approved the company’s interesting plan. The British biotech company will unleash another army of genetically modified mosquitoes to eradicate these mosquitoes. On the other hand, discussions about the incident started to flare up.

The company claimed that its biological product is completely environmentally friendly, and when it was tried in Brazil before, they achieved a clear result of 95 percent. However, independent scientists are worried about the long-term negative effects. Many scientists say that releasing experimental creatures into nature can have a negative impact on other living things.

Another concern of scientists is the hybrid breeding of mosquitoes to be released into the nature, resulting in the formation of new hybrid races that are very dangerous for human life. A bioethicist at Harvard Medical School stated that the mosquitoes that the company previously released did not cause a contagious disease and disappeared after a certain time.
