CZN Burak, real name Muhammed Burak Özdemir, one of the well-known faces of social media, appeared in court with his father for allegedly carrying out unauthorized construction in an area within the urban protected area.

Up to 5 years in prison was requested for CZN Burak and his father. In his defense at the hearing, Özdemir said, “My father said that the renovation was started and that he received all the permits. “I have no action regarding the renovation,” he said. CZN Burak and the defendant’s lawyers were present in the case heard at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.

Özdemir claimed that he had no information about the issue

In his defense as the defendant, Muhammed Burak Özdemir said, ‘My father was dealing with the issue. He told me that the renovation had started and that he had received all the permits. I have no action regarding the renovation. I don’t know whether my father received permission from the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board, he told me that he had the necessary permissions. I do not accept the accusations made against me. “I want my acquittal,” he said. Özdemir’s lawyer also requested acquittal, saying that his client had no actions.

In the prosecutor’s indictment, it was stated that the construction of the building in the said area was not completed. It was also stated that no permit was found for the work carried out in the area. While Muhammed Burak Özdemir and İsmail Özdemir were listed as suspects in the indictment, a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years was requested for them for “opposition to the Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets No. 2863”.

Making a statement after the hearing, Özdemir said, “We gave our statement regarding the construction of our restaurant. The person sitting in the restaurant complained about the building next to him, saying there was construction going on, but only repairs were made. “We gave our statement and we are leaving,” he said.
