Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) considers it a miracle that Dogecoin has survived so far given its lack of use.
According to CZ, Dogecoin should have been history by now. However, according to Zhao, Elon Musk strongly influenced the dog-themed memecoin, possibly extending its lifespan.
Dogecoin Comment from CZ at the AMA
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao expressed surprise that Dogecoin is still not out of date. He attributed this to Tesla boss Elon Musk’s influence on Dogecoin.
Binance boss CZ answered the question asked at an AMA (Ask Me Anything) event. CZ used the following statements in his comments:
“One memcoin that really surprised me was actually dogecoin. He had super long lasting power. I thought you’d disappear a long time ago. But Elon Musk has embraced it and perhaps extended its lifespan.”
The stock market boss, who unfollowed Musk on Twitter this week, said he didn’t understand the objection and doesn’t own memecoins or NFTs because he prefers utility tokens.
Zhao said, “It seems to be popular right now. But despite saying that, I think it’s a very high risk.”
However, Zhao said that he is not against memecoins. Binance added that it has actually recently listed them by supporting Pepe. “We tend to keep track of what our users are active on,” Zhao said.
