Valve announced that Counter-Strike 2 would officially come with a bombshell statement in the game world in the past weeks. In the statement, it was stated that the game will come in the summer as a free update to CS: GO. Counter-Strike 2, which will come with many innovations such as improved maps, improved smoke bombs and the disappearance of tick rate, is currently in a limited testing period that certain players can participate in.
Of course, this situation also affected CS: GO. In the past days, we saw that the player record was broken in CS: GO after the announcement of the update. Now, it was seen that there was an explosion at the opening of the box in CS: GO.
39.5 million cases opened in March
According to a report by CS:GO Case Tracker, there has been a serious increase in case openings in CS:GO after the announcement of Counter-Strike 2. As it is known, Valve announced that the inventory in CS: GO can be moved to the new game. That’s why it was seen that players were trying to collect the most valuable skins.
In order to open safes in CS:GO, it is necessary to buy safe keys for certain fees. Different items can also be found in the crates. Players can encounter very valuable things, albeit rare, among them.
According to the data, 27.7 million CS: GO cases were opened in February and a record was broken. However, the calculations made by CS:GO Case Tracker showed that this number increased even more to 39.5 million in March when CS2 was announced. This revealed that a new monthly record was broken. This number was 26 million in March 2022.
Last month, on a day-to-day basis, the most case openings were seen on March 23 (one day after the introduction of CS2) and March 27.
On the other hand, it was observed that a significant income was obtained. The calculation, made at $2.50 for each case opened, showed that the keys generated around $98 million 750 thousand dollars in gross revenue for CS:GO. All these data revealed that CS: GO, which will retire in the coming months, had one of the best periods of its 11-year life.
