Due to the unclear regulations in the country and the pressure exerted by the institutions on the sector, cryptocurrency miners lobbied in the USA. The lobby group called the Digital Energy Council (DEC) will penetrate American politics and defend the interests of miners. DEC shared its goals with the community by posting on account X the other day:
“Today, we decided to start what is called the Digital Energy Council. At the DEC, we were the first group to focus exclusively on cryptocurrency mining and energy policies at the federal level.”
Tom Mapes, who founded the Bitcoin mining lobby, underlined that they will work to have a say in these areas. Mapes previously held important positions in various government positions.
“During my time at the Ministry of Energy, crypto miners began to be recognized as an important actor. I believe that Bitcoin miners will guide the energy sector of the future.”
US and Crypto Regulations
American government agencies have come to the fore in recent months, especially with the investigations they have opened on crypto exchanges. SEC and CFTC; Crypto miners are also getting their share while they go after companies such as Binance, Coinbase and Kraken.
President Joe Biden presented a proposal in March to gradually increase the crypto mining tax to 30%. The lobby established by Bitcoin miners will try to prevent policies that negatively affect this and similar industry.
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced that it has set up a different lobby the other day.
