Crypto YouTubers BitBoy and Atozy clashed in a libel lawsuit filed over allegations of fraud.

Ben Armstrong, the person behind the BitBoy Crypto YouTube channel, is suing cryptocurrency YouTuber Erling Mengshoel for defamation in the US District Court of Georgia, Law360 reports.

Crypto YouTubers Accused of Libel in Case

According to the lawsuit document, BitBoy Crypto channel owner Ben Armstrong filed a complaint against Erling Mengshoel that “these allegations were defamatory, unfairly interfered with business relations and violated fair business practices.”

The complaint, in particular, concerns Mengshoel’s reference to Armstrong in a video released on November 9, 2021, referring to him as “a shady jerk who can even milk for a quick buck instead of giving real advice to his viewers.”

On top of that, the complaint states that the video “repeatedly attacks Armstrong’s integrity, his credibility” and repeatedly called him a “scumbag” and states that it will “disclose him for what it is”.

Parties Charged with Shilling

While not for the same allegations, crypto influencers have previously faced lawsuits before a California district court, including American socialite and media personality Kim Kardashian, who was accused in January 2022 of promoting fake cryptocurrency to followers.

Recently, Barstool Sports president and prominent influencer Dave Portnoy announced that he is being sued for ‘shhilling’ the DeFi token SafeMoon (SAFEMOON).
