A new report by Bleeping Computer showed that fake videos were used for scams promising double returns to cryptocurrency investors. Videos using Musk and Dorsey’s speeches at The B Word conference last July have been viewed tens of thousands of times.
Some of these videos shared a link claiming to be a draw for viewers. The link was to a website where traders had to transfer their cryptocurrencies to take advantage of fake promotions. It was stated that investors who send crypto money to the address on the website will be paid double.
The report showed that one of the scam-linked YouTube channel has more than 1 million subscribers. McAfee also listed 26 websites it believes to be linked to scams, but said the number is likely higher.
It’s worth noting that in addition to fake draws on YouTube, there are thousands of crypto scammers on Twitter. These accounts, using the name of Elon Musk, claim to make money through fake websites.
