Facebook, which has activated the profile locking feature for the people of Ukraine, has announced its new feature. The company announced that it has established a Special Operations Center for Ukraine.
Profile locking feature is available to users who are concerned about privacy and security. Thanks to this feature, users in the country can lock their Facebook profiles so that only their friends can see the content on the site. The profile lock feature remains active until users manually turn it off.
Facebook established Special Operations Center for Ukraine
Facebook activated the profile locking feature for its users in Afghanistan last year. The feature, which prevents the appearance of content that may endanger users, is designed to quickly secure accounts.
Facebook’s Head of Security Policy, Nathaniel Gleicher, made a statement about the new security feature. Announcing on Twitter, Gleicher said, “It is the same lock feature that our company activated during the Afghanistan events last year. A small blue badge will appear on locked profiles. Visitors will have access to limited information when they view the locked profile.” made statements.
When the profile is locked, the privacy of public posts in the account changes to friends only. Visitors can only see a portion of the account’s about section. However, friends of users can see posts, stories, cover and profile photo.
Gleicher stated that Facebook is only a social network and users should take different measures for their personal safety. Users can access the Profile Settings menu by clicking the More option under the profile name in the Facebook app. Users located in Ukraine can perform the operation by clicking the Lock Profile button among the security options at the bottom of the menu. After this point, visitors will see a warning that only their friends can view the submitted content.
