The countdown has begun for Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA’s domestic engine, which stands out with its large dimensions and high payload capacity. TEI General Manager Mahmut Faruk Akşit gave information about the domestic engine works to be used in AKINCI TİHA.
TEI-TS1400’s delivery date is being pushed forward
To be delivered this year
Foreign production engines are used in the current versions of Akıncı TİHA. The TEI-PD222 engine developed by TUSAŞ Engine Industry AŞ (TEI) will be used as the domestic engine. Producing 225 horsepower, TEI-PD222 produces more power than the TEI-PD170 engine used in TUSAŞ Anka UAV. 75 percent of the engine’s long-term fatigue and strain tests have been completed. It is planned that all tests will be completed and the engine will be delivered this year.
TEI General Manager Akşit, who made a statement on the subject, said:
“Another version of Akıncı that will stay in the air for a long time. there is also. When it will serve for a long time, diesels are much more advantageous, they burn much less. We are also developing a 225 hp version of our PD170 engine. We have come to a good place in the project. In the maturation tests of the engine, there are tough life tests and so on. We have almost completed 75 percent of the long-term fatigue and strain tests. We have a test process to go a little further. We aim to deliver this engine within a year so that it can fly Akıncı”
