When we talk about things that make us question reality, optical illusions have the biggest share. However, acoustic anomalies can be equally disturbing if they are not specifically designed to confuse and confuse. This goes for the “Center of the Universe”, a strange place known as the sound anomaly.

This place is located on a footbridge in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A point is marked on the ground with a concrete circle, surrounded by flower beds and benches that form a larger circle. And when you step inside, your voice echoes back to you louder and sounds from outside the circle are distorted.

Youtube user Trueson Daugherty’s “Man Explores the Center of the Universe, Tulsa OK” video showcases the echo effect inside the circle (and the nearby “Artificial Cloud” sculpture).

While there is no official explanation for how the anomaly occurred, it can be speculated that the most likely cause of the strange effect was the surrounding flowerbeds reflecting the sound waves.

Let’s just say that there are other similar anomalies in the world, such as the Mysterious Spot of Lake George. Such strange sound phenomena can also occur in circular buildings. For example, in St. Paul’s Cathedral is also known as the whispering gallery, as your muffled speech is transmitted through the massive dome thanks to the reverberation of sound waves.

Examples of similar structures can be found in many buildings, both ancient and modern, from the Mayan city of Chichen Itza to New York’s Grand Central Station.
