Cosmos developers are submitting the proposal, which aims to introduce a new security model, to community voting.

Developers will put the proposal for a new security model for the network’s central blockchain, called Hub, to a vote on Oct.

Cosmos Votes New Security Model

The developers originally scheduled the vote on the new security model for October 24, but later this date was postponed to October 31.

The Cosmos ecosystem is an interoperability network that holds several chains together. These chains have the ability to interact with each other using the Inter Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol through the Cosmos Hub.

The developers released a whitepaper in September that revealed new functionality for the Cosmos Hub, including a mechanism called cross-chain security. This mechanism will allow application-specific chains within the ecosystem to rely on Hub validators for security. In other words, cross-chain security will allow certain Cosmos chains to secure themselves using the Hub.

The whitepaper also included a change to make ATOM, the native token of Cosmos Hub, a collateral asset called ATOM 2.0. This item will also be voted on in the voting that will take place.

According to the team, if the changes are approved, Cosmos Hub will become an infrastructure service platform.
