Both Android and mobile applications of Twitter, which entered the process of rebranding by taking the name “X”, have changed recently. With new updates, the application began to appear as X on users’ phones after many years.

Although Twitter appeared on iPhones and iPads under its new name, it did not initially appear as an “X” in the App Store. This was because Apple did not allow single-character app names in its store. However, this situation soon changed.

Elon Musk may have gotten special permission from Apple to make the app “X”

When we look at the Twitter application on the App Store, we can see that there is an “X”. This reveals that Apple made an exception for Elon Musk and did not include Twitter in the rule. Although there is no definitive explanation on the subject, this exception shows that Musk has received a special permission from Apple.

The exception could be a move the company made to mend its relations with Elon Musk. The famous billionaire claimed last year that Apple threatened to remove Twitter from the App Store. However, after meeting with CEO Tim Cook, he stated that it was a misunderstanding.

Twitter’s transition to “X” is still ongoing. Practices have changed, and although Musk has added a huge “X” to its headquarters, the company still hasn’t moved from “twitter.com” to “X.com.” When logged into X.com, we are still redirected to the old domain name. On the other hand, the name of Twitter continues to be mentioned on the support page and the name of Twitter Blue is still the same. We will see when changes will be made here in the coming days.
