Samsung has come under criticism for its Game Optimization Service (GOS), which optimizes the performance of games to prevent smartphones from overheating. Last week, it was revealed that GOS was not only limited to games, but also affected the performance of 10 thousand applications, including Instagram and YouTube.

However, the Game Optimization Service allegedly did not affect performance benchmarking applications such as Geekbench, 3DMark, AnTuTu and PCMark. “Is Samsung misleading its customers?” on social media. As reviews began to circulate, Geekbench had removed some Galaxy S series flagships from its database.

Geekbench removed Galaxy Tab S8+ from the list

Following claims that Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 does not impose any limitations on performance benchmarking apps by making positive discrimination, and thus scores higher than apps, Geekbench management social media made a statement on his account.

Geekbench announced that it has removed the Galaxy Tab S8 from its database:

Thanks to @AndrodidPolice, we noticed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 makes performance decisions based on app identifiers rather than app behavior. We have removed the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 from our Android Benchmark table.

Galaxy Tab S8 series Tab S8, Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra consists of three models. However, Geekbench tweeted that it only removed the Galaxy Tab S8 from its database, while not mentioning the other two models. The Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra may also be released soon, although no official announcement has been made.

By the way, recently, Samsung solved the GOS problem with the update it released for Galaxy S22 users in South Korea. It allowed the service to be disabled, preventing the performance of applications and games from being limited. The same feature is expected to come to other devices, especially the Galaxy Tab S8, in the coming days.
