GTA: Vice City, the game of Rockstar’s legendary series set in Miami, made a big leap after GTA III, which carried the series to the third dimension. The game, in which we witnessed an unforgettable story of rise with the legendary Tommy Vercetti character, is still called one of the best in the GTA series.
Although it has an original story, GTA: Vice City has similarities with the legendary Scarface movie from 1983, which we cannot say by chance. In addition to the similarities between Tony Montana and Tommy Vercetti, played by Al Pacino, the locations in the game and the references to the movie are quite remarkable. Here are some similarities between these two legendary productions…
Tony Montana and Tommy Vercetti
The main characters of the two productions are quite similar to each other. The line of similarities that started with their names continues with the Hawaiian-themed shirt they wear. Both characters are Italian-American and they are trying to get from the bottom to the top to pay for their betrayal.
Malibu Club and The Babylon Club
GTA: Malibu Club, which we worked in Vice City for a long time and eventually owned, and The Babylon Club, owned by Tony Montana’s boss Frank Lopez, in Scarface, are almost identical. We even play a mission similar to Lopez’s assassination attempt on Montana in GTA.
The mansions of Frank Lopez and Ricardo Diaz
At one point in GTA: Vice City, the mansion of Ricardo Diaz, who betrayed Tommy Vercetti, falls under our control. This mansion and the mansion owned by Diaz and then Tony Montana in Scarface have exactly the same design.
If you go to Tommy Vercetti’s office and look at the security cameras in the game, you can see the footage taken by the cameras in the mansion owned by Montana in Scarface. Also, in a room on the upper floor of the mansion, you’ll notice the exact replica of the wallpaper in the background while shooting Montana’s boss.
C3 Apartment and the saw scene
There is also a reference to the scene where Tony Montana and his friends are about to be slaughtered with a chainsaw, which will be easily remembered by those who watched the movie Scarface. When you enter the apartment that we have marked on the map in the images above, you can see how similar the two rooms are to each other. Even the drug packages in the referenced scene are not forgotten.
