On Twitter, news will now be shared without a headline. So why?
The sole purpose of those who use Twitter today is to keep abreast of the current news. Unfortunately, there are also news sources with the title of “click trap” that abuse this desire of people.
Elon Musk aims to follow a logical way to prevent this. If this work goes into effect, news links shared on Twitter or X will no longer display the headline of the news.
The user who shares the news link will have to write a description text with the link. In this way, Elon Musk aims to avoid click trap titles. Of course, this is not the only goal.
He also wants the news to be shared directly on X now. She plans to do this by promising more freedom of expression and more income. Another reason for removing headlines is to free up timeline space for users to show more posts.
This news comes as no surprise, as Musk uses his power to curb traffic from rival websites and social networks he dislikes. More specifically, Instagram uses the t.co link shortener to reduce traffic to posts like Threads and The New York Times.
This approach seems plausible, as a recent update to app X added a tag that displays the URL of websites above images of shared articles. Although advertisers oppose this change, Musk still plans to continue.
