A claim about ConsenSys, the owner of the MetaMask application, caught the attention of crypto money investors. The Block just reported that the Ethereum developer is seeking capital. Allegedly, the owners of the company held talks over the summer to get capital from investors. But the company insists it doesn’t need the money.

According to four experts who spoke to the source, the blockchain firm has spoken to multiple investors about fundraising in recent weeks.

ConsenSys last raised $450 million in capital led by ParaFi Capital in early 2022. Rich backers such as Temasek and Microsoft also participated in the funding. In the funding round, investors determined the company value at $7 billion. But experts speaking today claim that the MetaMask developer no longer has this value.

Responding to the allegations, the company official denied the claim that they needed cash while confirming investor interest. A ConsenSys spokesperson emphasized that the startup is the winner of the 2022 bear market.

“As a result, the company experienced a significant influx of inbound investor interest, partly due to misreporting about secondary market activity in our stock earlier this year.”

The news about the talks comes at a time when shares of many privately owned crypto startups, including ConsenSys, are trading at low prices in the market.
