This year’s leg of Apple’s annual developer conference will begin on June 5th. In the 4-day conference, the company is expected to introduce many things, including the long-awaited AR / VR glasses. One of them is iOS 17.
According to an article by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company will bring an important innovation to iPhones with the iOS 17 update. This new feature will turn your phone into a smart screen.
The feature will be used when the phone is placed horizontally, showing things like weather, calendar and notifications when the screen is locked
According to Gurman, the feature that the company plans to introduce with iOS 17 will start to show widgets that will be very useful for you after the screen is locked. This innovation, which will turn the iPhone into smart screens used at home, resembles the “Always on Display” feature; but it is possible to say that it is more functional.
Mark Gurman, based on sources close to the subject, says that the feature will be used when the screen is locked and the phone is positioned horizontally. The interface adds that the calendar, weather, notifications and more will show when the screen is locked. According to Gurman, Apple’s goal here is to make the phone more useful when it’s idle (like sitting on a table).
A similar feature existed on Google’s Pixel devices. When a locked phone was placed on a Pixel stand, it could both charge and show things like photos on the screen. There was also such a thing on Amazon tablets. Let’s not forget that Apple is said to be considering a dark background and bright text for the feature that will be easier to read.
This feature, which will increase the functions of the iPhone, may herald a future Apple-branded smart display. It has been rumored that the company has been working on such a device that can be used at home for a while. Although there are few details about the smart screen, it was stated that it would have a similar design to the iPad, and it was claimed that it could be released in 2024.
