Data released by the International Data Company in the past days revealed that Apple was the manufacturer that experienced the most decline in computer sales. It seems that this situation has pushed Apple to change some of its plans.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and 9to5mac, Apple will not include the latest chipset in the new 15-inch MacBook Air models. The new models will only go on sale with last year’s chipset, the M2.
So why is Apple taking such a decision?
Apple’s new decision about MacBook Air models was the result of the company’s market assessment, according to a source named “yeux1122”, which is closely followed by the industry. The source shared Apple’s decision as follows:
Apple offers two different base models in MacBook Air models today. One of these models includes the 2021 chipset M1 and the other 2022 chipset M2. With the success it has achieved with these chipsets, Apple may actually have dug a hole for its own future.
The performance offered by Apple’s chipsets enables many users to handle even processes that require high processing power in a very short time. Therefore, many people no longer feel the need to refresh their computer.
In summary; A MacBook Air with an M3 processor wouldn’t be able to reach high sales anyway, as it probably has a higher price tag as well as being too powerful for users. This has pushed Apple’s focus to continue with models with M2 processors.
