Google Chrome has started to offer a new user experience in the file download system. The development team decided to add a download button to the top toolbar late last year and they will gradually make it more informative and useful. It looks like the downloads bar that appears at the bottom of the window when a download starts will be phased out and eventually disappear altogether.
The new downloads button brings information about ongoing and recently completed downloads to the browser toolbar. This information was previously available in the window at the bottom of the browser. In other words, it looks like Google will implement the same download experience as Microsoft Edge.
As previously reported, the color and size of the download button changes when a user downloads a file. Download icon shrinks and turns from gray to blue during active downloads.
