International Data Corporation (IDC) has released the latest statistics on Chrome OS-based laptop shipments. The company’s report reveals that Chromebook sales have fallen by more than half in the last quarter. The information was posted on the company’s official website.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, between October and December, approximately 4.8 million Chromebooks were sold worldwide. In the last quarter of 2020, 13.1 million units were sold. This means a 63.6% decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.

There is 13.5% growth in 2021

In the last quarter of last year, the leading supplier was Acer Group with a share of 26.3%. While Dell Technologies took the second place with 20.3%, Lenovo managed to enter the top three with a 16.1% share. In addition, we see that Samsung and HP brands are also in the top five with 12.3% and 9.9% shares, respectively.

Overall, Chrome OS-based laptop shipments rose 13.5% to 37 million in 2021. For comparison, let us remind you that 2020 shipments were recorded as 32.6 million units. The top five manufacturers in 2021 are listed as HP, Lenovo, Acer Group, Dell Technologies and Samsung.
