Google, Microsoft, Apple and the Mozilla Foundation announced that they will work together to ensure that Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox provide the same reliable and consistent web experience.
Details how the four companies, along with other contributors, will work on Interop 2022, a new benchmark for interoperability for modern browsers. The ultimate goal is to reduce “trouble spots” for developers and help developers focus on building their web experience instead.
Interop 2022 is a benchmarking system that focuses on 15 different areas of modern browsers. These are areas that often cause headaches for web developers due to platform differences. Google, Microsoft, Apple, Mozilla, Bocoup and Igalia have agreed to make browsers behave the same in these areas.
Developers and users can monitor how Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox are progressing in 15 areas determined on the Interop 2022 site. The page shows the scores for the stable and experimental versions of each browser (Chrome and Edge Dev, Firefox Nightly and Safari Tech Preview). You can access the comparison here.
