Despite the embargoes, the chip work of Chinese designers is admirable. Although they are only a generation or two behind, they aim to reduce this difference to one generation starting next year. Chinese Longsoon is ready to launch its new designs.

Longsoon 3A6000 sounds ambitious

The company’s existing Longsoon 3A5000 processors were quad-core and could compete with the first generation Zen core. Longsoon describes his work as tick-tock. In other words, it was a business process that Intel applied for a period but failed to achieve. The Tick process was the main architecture enhancements and the Tock process was the main architecture enhancements. The Longsoon 5000 series defines the Tock process, while the Longsoon 6000 series defines the Tick process.

The Longsoon 6000 series can scale up to 32 cores. Although the details are not known, Longsoon 3A6000, 3C6000 and 3D6000 will be presented under different names according to segments in 2023. Since these processors are shaped on a different 64-bit architecture, they require special operating systems.

According to the tests, the Longsoon 3A6000 processor achieved a 68 percent increase in single-core FP performance and a 37 percent increase in fixed point performance. Thus, according to SPEC CPU2006 tests, while catching up with Zen 3 processors, it lagged behind Intel Tiger lake and Alder Lake processors.

In 2024, the company will switch to a new architecture called Tock. It will be inevitable that this architecture will now go head-to-head with Zen 4, namely Ryzen 7000 or Raptor Lake, and it will apparently complicate the job of chip giants in China.
