The China Cyberspace Administration (CAC) has announced that China has closed nearly 13,000 accounts this year advocating cryptocurrency investments on popular social media platforms.
There has been mass account closure in China, which has not yet thought to soften its perspective on cryptocurrencies. Stating that with the rise of virtual currency, related activities such as fraud have become intense, CAC closed the accounts of 13 thousand people who defended cryptocurrencies on social media.
China Cyberspace Administration Hacked 13,000 Accounts
Accounts were not the only target of China, which took a strict stance by banning cryptocurrency trading and mining last September. In addition to 13 thousand social media accounts that were closed for encouraging crypto money investment; 51 thousand posts and 105 websites related to crypto were also blocked.
The China Cyberspace Administration stated that in the next step, it will continue to work with relevant departments to strengthen the pressure on illegal financial activities related to virtual currency and protect people’s property safety in accordance with the law.
The CAC added that the account deletion campaign was to enforce the decisions of the Chinese Communist Party and that it detected many accounts based on cues from users on social media.
