China to Build Bases on the Moon with 3D Printers

While it is aimed for humanity to set foot on the Moon again in 2024, this target was not set by the USA alone. In a new space age race, China continues to develop its plans to establish a base on the Moon. The latest news is about how this base will be built.

According to the details conveyed by the Chinese media, it is aimed that the new bases to be built on the Moon will be built with 3D printing technology. The first mission that will form the basis of this goal is expected to be the Chang’e 8 mission.

The robot will conduct research for 3D printing technology:

The robot, which will bear the same name as the Chang’e 8 mission, aims to conduct studies on the lunar surface, investigate mineral compositions, and also determine whether 3D printing technology can be used on the lunar surface.

The material of the base to be built on the Moon is planned to be of Moon origin, not Earth origin. It is stated that this will pave the way for a longer stay on the Moon. The Chang’e 8 mission is scheduled to begin in 2028.
