China plans to open an investigation into Apple: Well, what will happen now?
China’s State Market Regulation Administration (Samr) is preparing to launch a comprehensive competition investigation into Apple’s App Store policies. Previously, the wage structure of the App Store was brought to the agenda many times. The new decision may respond to trade restrictions imposed by the United States on Chinese products.

Recitation on trade restrictions from China

One of the focal points of the investigation will be Apple’s 30 %commission for in -app purchases. In addition, restrictions on third -party payment systems and alternative application stores will be examined. Likewise, Chinese developers Tencent and ByTedance have long been criticizing Apple’s App Store policies for a long time, and argues that these policies adversely affect local competition and consumers.

Samr has not yet confirmed that he started an official investigation against Apple. However, let’s say that a full-scale anti-technical case against Google has recently filed against Google. Similarly, Nvidia was subjected to a monopoly investigation in China in December.

Apple has recently made some changes in the App Store policies to become compatible with the Digital Markets Law (DMA) in Europe, and has provided more flexibility to developers by dividing commission fees into two. However, the investigation, which is expected to be started in China, is thought to lead to the company’s global business model on a wider scale.

Since the Chinese market is of great importance for Apple, such regulatory prints can lead to new changes in the company’s application store policies.
