According to new information leaked from the backstage, Netflix’s ad-supported subscription option will go live much sooner than expected. The specified date is November 1, and as of this date, the new subscription option will begin to be available in more than one country. Among the countries selected in the first stage are the USA, Canada, England, France and Germany.
It is considered that the reason Netflix pushed forward its plans to launch advertising subscriptions is that Disney Plus will offer a similar service and want to get ahead of it. Initially, the target was set for year-end, now it seems to have been pushed forward two months.
A Netflix subscription with ads will cost between $7 and $9 per month, which is half the amount of the current standard subscription plan. Ads will not be shown in children’s programs, and subscribers using this plan will not be able to download the content to their devices to watch later without internet.
