Employees dissatisfied with Bard AI
After ChatGPT was launched in November, companies quickly tried to develop competing systems or expand their investments. But Google hastily introduced ChatGPT rival Bard in March, before it was fully ready, thinking its core business would be compromised. What was said about Bard, who is still in a limited testing process, is simply worrying. Employees have told Google not to launch Bard, describing him as a “pathological liar”, “embarrassing” and “worse than useless,” according to a new report.
The report, based on internal documents by Bloomberg, mentions an employee writing “Bard is worse than useless: please don’t launch” in an internal message group seen by 7,000 people, with many agreeing with that assessment. Another employee says he asked Bard for suggestions on how to land a plane, while Bard regularly gave answers that would cause the crash. In another instance, Bard is quoted as saying that scuba diving “will likely result in serious injury or death.”
Google can’t keep up with Microsoft
Bloomberg’s sources say that Google offers low-quality information to keep up with its competitors and gives less priority to ethical values. Staff responsible for the safety and ethical implications of new products are allegedly told to stay away from productive AI tools under development. Google is clearly lagging behind Microsoft in its productive AI goals. The integration of artificial intelligence features into Bing not only allowed the browser to exceed 100 million daily active users for the first time in its history, it also prompted Samsung to consider switching from Google to Bing as the default search engine for its devices.
