As you may remember, OpenAI’s ChatGPT application was released last week. Although the chatbot was only available to users in the US at first and only released on iOS platform, it reached 500,000 downloads in 6 days.ChatGPT, which has passed the half-million threshold, has thus become one of the most successful new applications of the last two years. It outperformed most of its competitors, including Microsoft’s AI-powered Bing and Edge apps.

Bing had 340,000 downloads in its best five-day period in February, while Microsoft Edge had 335,000 downloads. OpenAI’s ChatGPT application easily surpassed Microsoft applications by signing 480,000 downloads between May 18-22.
The only app to surpass OpenAI’s chatbot was Chat with Ask AI, which was downloaded 590,000 times between April 4-8, 2023. ChatGPT’s iOS app is expanding to more and more countries. OpenAI recently announced that they have made the artificial intelligence application available in more than 40 countries after America.
