When we use it these days, we say, “What were we doing when we didn’t have this?” Welcome to ChatGPT’s birthday celebration. Sometimes we hurt him, sometimes we embraced him. Sometimes he even took on the role of hero at critical moments. As a result, he never left our side, for better or for worse.
We will show how ChatGPT has gone in this year, in order to give it the value it deserves and to remember how important it is to us. This content, which we definitely did not prepare to forgive us when the robots take over the world, chronologically reveals the steps taken by ChatGPT.
When the calendar showed December 11, 2015, a company called OpenAI emerged.
OpenAI, a non-profit organization, said that it was focused on creating artificial intelligence that would benefit all humanity. These artificial intelligence (models), which would be available to everyone equally and at the same rate, were also open to external development.
One year later, specifically on December 16, 2016, we saw the first step of this company.
A research paper aimed at collecting large-scale data, including images, sentences and sounds, into a single address and feeding the productive models we use comfortably today with this data was shared by the company.
Here we come to 2019. In this period, the GPT-2 model needs to be trimmed a little.
In the study shared this year, OpenAI announced that it developed the model by collecting feedback from people after uploading the data in question for the GPT model.
When we came to January 27, 2022, we had the opportunity to see ChatGPT’s first stage siblings.
During this period, the company switched to the GPT-3 model and announced a model called InstructGPT, which focuses on command understanding and is optimized for it. Thus, it was possible to advance the model without deviating from the commands.
Here is that big day: When the calendar showed November 30, 2022, doctors gave the good news of the ChatGPT baby.
This model, which came with the GPT-3.5 version, could answer your questions and correct you with the data it received from the internet, and while doing so, it did not exceed the security limits. Of course, it should not be forgotten that during these periods, he sometimes gave wrong answers and defended them and expressed his opinion on sensitive issues.
Just for this reason, our artificial intelligence model faced bans on both major websites and some platforms. As if this were not enough, we also witnessed countries trying to put pressure on this model.
ChatGPT Plus subscription became available on February 1, 2023 for those who want to fully utilize what ChatGPT can do in this version.
When you purchase this subscription, you get faster response times, front-end access to new features and improvements, and uninterrupted access to the service even during busy times. This subscription, offered for a fee of $20, was made available all over the world. But the good thing was that free ChatGPT could also be used without any restrictions.
It was also stated that ChatGPT reached 100 million users just 2 months after its release. Also this month, Microsoft started integrating ChatGPT features into the Bing service.
On March 1, 2023, the company announced the ChatGPT API.
This has paved the way for developers to integrate ChatGPT into their own applications. From here on, we started to see ChatGPT in different applications.
March 14, 2023 was another turning point for ChatGPT.
Because now there has been a transition from GPT-3.5 to GPT-4. We can now get more accurate and faster answers, engage in dialogue with a more creative model, and solve problems more efficiently. Of course, we should point out that you need to switch to a Plus subscription for now, and the free version uses GPT-3.5.
This month, ChatGPT experienced server problems, was banned in Italy, and gained plug-in support.
We came to May 15, 2023. Now ChatGPT has found its way into our pockets.
This version, in which we could both continue our recorded conversations with our own account and purchase the subscription and switch between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 versions, was highly appreciated.
At the end of May, ChatGPT offered more than 200 add-ons to Plus subscribers.
File upload and voice communication features also arrived in late October.
With all these developments, ChatGPT has demonstrated its superiority over other language models.
In November, GPTs, chat bots that you can create specifically for yourself, were announced.
What will happen next?
From here on, ChatGPT will compete with new competitors such as Grok. That’s not the only new challenge. As you know, Sam Altman was removed from his position as CEO of OpenAI by the board of directors, which caused the trust in the company to be shaken.
After this incident, the name we know as the father of ChatGPT received huge support on social media. After some turmoil, Sam Altman returned to OpenAI last week. In addition, Microsoft was also included in the board of directors of OpenAI, which is frequently criticized.
We asked ChatGPT to do a before-after so you can see the difference.
What do you think about the future of ChatGPT? Don’t forget to send the messages you would like to convey to our birthday child to our comment basket.
As a bonus, we asked him to draw his birthday.
Of course, we also recommend that you move on from the content we came to celebrate to the following topic in order to see the behind-the-scenes of the work:
