Tesla shared new details about the future of the brand at its investors day event held on March 1. The company’s new Gigafactory to be established in Mexico and the new affordable vehicle architecture, as well as the new subscription system for electric cars, were announced during the event.
Tesla announces new subscription system
One of the highlights during the event was the new charging subscription for electric cars. Accordingly, Tesla customers in Texas will be able to optionally recharge their cars at home by paying a monthly subscription fee of $30 from July 2023.
According to this subscription system, vehicle owners will be able to charge their vehicles unlimitedly during the night. The reason why the charging system is active in the evening is because of the many wind farms in the state. A significant amount of electricity can be produced in the region, especially with the increasing wind intensity at night. The electricity produced can also be easily used to charge vehicles.
By offering this affordable unlimited offer, Tesla plans to encourage its customers to charge their electric vehicles at home using renewable energy at night. Tesla wants to increase the use of green energy in general. The subscription system is one of the steps of this.
While introducing the new subscription system for charging, the electric car manufacturer also released a remarkable visual. Looking carefully at the shared image, it is possible to see the thin wall-mounted charging system and the wireless charging apparatus under the vehicle. This apparatus, which is thought to be part of the shadow of the vehicle at first glance, may be the first clue of the wireless charging system Tesla plans to offer for its vehicles.
