There has been a new development regarding obesity, which has become one of the biggest problems of humanity. Scientists have discovered that there is a link between speaking style and weight loss. According to this; When people speak correctly, they are much more successful in losing weight and getting rid of obesity.

A group of scientists working in the USA collaborated with a company called Noom, which helps regulate people’s eating habits in the country. Analyzing the retrospective data of 1,350 Noom customers as part of this collaboration, scientists found that people who use “analytical language” are more determined to lose weight. Moreover, these individuals were in a better position than others in not abandoning the diet program.

OK, but what does “analytical language” mean?

All of the people who applied to Noom to lose weight had some goals. The participants discussed the weight they wanted to reach with the counselors, determined a diet program and acted accordingly. At this point, the experts, who analyzed the speech style of individuals using an algorithm, came to the conclusion that participants who used analytical language and spoke analytical language to them were better at losing weight. In other words, the way of speaking was an important factor in losing weight. Okay, what was this analytical language? What do you need to do?

Annabell Ho, the head of the research, explains the analytical language and the result of this research as follows:

“Using analytical language is, for example, analyzing what’s important and why it predicts more weight loss in a weight loss program. So it’s more technical speaking. Using ‘I’ and present tense words leads to less determination.”
