Details of the 5-year contract signed by Max Verstappen and Red Bull
The Dutch pilot, who extended his contract for 5 years, will race in Red Bull until 2028. Redbull team manager Christian Horner described the signing of the deal as a “true display of goodwill”. Max Verstappen, who signed his new contract in January 2020, would race with RB until 2023. With the updated contract, Max became the owner of the longest contract signed in F1.
Verstappen, who won the 2021 world championship in Abu Dhabi from Hamilton, stated that he wanted to stay in the same team for the next 15 years. The contract, which was officially announced today, will be worth approximately 50 million euros with bonuses.
With this contract signed, Verstappen will be ahead of his rival Hamilton and will make his name in history as the highest paid racing driver in Formula 1 history with bonuses. On the Red Bull front, although they lost their partnership with Honda, the deal with Oracle and Bybit earned the company more than $150 million.
Verstappen said of the new deal: “I really enjoy being a part of the Oracle Red Bull Racing team, so choosing to stay into the 2028 season was an easy decision. I love this team and last year was just incredible, our goal since we got together in 2016 has been to win the championship and that’s what we did, so now it’s about keeping number one in the car long term.”
