Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK) has announced the new limits of the ceiling price application that has been valid for Turkcell and Vodafone since 2018. According to the statements made by the institution, consumers using these two telecommunication companies will pay a maximum of 87.53 kurus per minute in the country and 8 liras and 70 kurus per minute abroad when they call fixed or mobile lines. The decision will not be applied to Türk Telekom.

BTK, which determines the new prices for the “Mobile Electronic Communication Services Maximum Fee Tariff” prepared by the General Directorate of Communications of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, will thus protect the consumers using Turkcell and Vodafone from exorbitant prices. Türk Telekom, which applied to the Council of State in the years when the issue was on the agenda and won the case, will be exempted from the said application.

There will also be a ceiling price application in messaging services.

The tariffs set for the 2021-2022 period are not just about voice calls. In services such as messaging and opening and closing a call immediately, the ceiling prices determined by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority will be acted upon. Accordingly, the maximum domestic short message fee will be 62.91 cents, and the international short message fee will be 1 lira 54 cents maximum. Consumers who want to change their names will pay 11.33 liras, and consumers who want to buy a line will pay 16.58 liras. The cost of changing the number will be 37.82 liras at most.

The new version of the Mobile Electronic Communication Services Maximum Fee Tariff belonging to the General Directorate of Communications of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has entered into force as of 1 October. In other words, consumers will pay at the prices determined for at least 1 year. Neither Vodafone nor Turkcell will be able to charge fees above the aforementioned tariff. In addition to all these, when Vodafone and Turkcell want to change the tariff price; will notify the ICTA at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
