CATL is the largest battery manufacturer in the world. They came up with a new announcement recently. According to the company’s new announcement, CATL has announced that it will produce an electric car battery that can travel more than 1000 kilometers.

This electric vehicle battery, called the Qilin battery, will enter production in 2023. If you wish, let’s take a look at the details of CATL’s statement, because a comparison with the Tesla Model S is really interesting.

CATL battery will be 50% more efficient compared to Tesla Model S

CATL’s battery, named Qilin, will be 50% more efficient than the battery currently used in the Tesla Model S. Compared to Qilin’s 1000 km+ range, Tesla’s longest range electric car, Tesla Model S, offers a range of only 650 km. The longest range electric car available in the United States is the Lucid Air, with a price tag of $169,000. Lucid Air offers a range of 835 km per charge.

According to CATL, the world’s largest EV battery manufacturer and a Tesla supplier, Qilin plans to pack a lot of energy into a small battery. According to CATL, the battery will have an energy density of 255 watt-hours per kilogram and will be 13% more powerful than Model Y SUVs, which Tesla recently started using 4680 batteries.

In addition, CATL also claimed that the Qilin can charge from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes, making it a level apart from anything the market has to offer. But the real statistics will only be determined when the battery launches and electric cars using Qilin hit the road.

No official statement has been made as to which US electric car manufacturers will be interested in applying Qilin to cars. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
