Google has announced key Android innovations for smartphones and tablets and Wear OS devices.

One of those features will be Reading Mode, which “provides an accessible reading experience” for people with low vision, low vision or dyslexia, Google says. This feature allows you to adjust the font style and size, line spacing and background color, and switch between dark and light modes. It also looks like it will have a Text-to-Speech feature with speed and volume control. Reading Mode is available for download on devices running Android 9.0 or higher via the Google Play Store.

Starting next week, it will also be possible to cast videos directly from the Google TV app to an Android TV or Google TV-based smart TV with a single tap. You will even be able to browse other options and use your device as a remote control while watching.

Digital car key sharing

Another feature will make it easy for you to share digital car keys with friends and family. You can also see and change who can access your car in your phone’s digital wallet app. This feature is currently available on Google Pixel devices and iPhones. But it will soon be available on select phones running Android 12 or higher.

Let’s come to Google Photos… The app will now feature new collage styles from married Australian visual artists DABSMYLA and renowned watercolor artist Yao Cheng Design. To use the feature, simply select your photos, choose a design, and rearrange your layout by dragging and dropping images.

Wear OS innovations

Google also offers improvements for Wear OS. One is tiling options for favorites and sunrise and sunset times. The Google Keep app for Wear OS is also being updated to make it easier for you to view photos, co-workers and background colors. Finally, you can use the Google Assistant to quickly start a workout through the Adidas Running app. Say “Hey Google, start a run with Adidas Running” and the app will immediately start tracking your workout.

Other notable new features include YouTube’s new Home screen Search widget and the Emoji Kitchen on Gboard, where you can combine new emojis in different sticker combinations.
