While we wait for the WWDC 2023 developer conference and the iPhone 15 series to be introduced this fall, the first rumors about the 2024 iPhone 16 are starting to come. A reliable source claims that Apple will change the rear camera design next year.

According to the URedditor Twitter account, the two camera sensors on the back panel of the iPhone 16 will be placed vertically, not diagonally, as on the iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 14 and 14 Plus. It is stated that the last models using the diagonal array will be the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.

It will show that it is the latest model

With this move, Apple will return to the vertical layout we saw on the last iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. The leaker says this change, along with other design features like Dynamic Island and USB-C port, will make it clear that the device is “end-of-the-range.”

It is unclear whether the company plans to make the change purely for aesthetic reasons or for some other reason. It is a fact that there is still a long time for the release of the iPhone 16, which is expected to be announced in September 2024, and Apple may change its design plans in the process.
