According to Meta’s latest quarterly report, Facebook has seen a 3 percent increase in monthly active users. This impressive number shows that the platform still has a huge impact around the world. Although Facebook’s popularity among the younger generation is thought to be decreasing, the increase in the number of daily active users and the success of new features show that the company has the potential to perform strongly in the future.
Facebook reaches 3 billion users
According to data from Meta, Facebook has more than 3 billion monthly active users. Meta’s entire family of apps, which includes WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and now Threads, has 3.88 billion monthly active users. This figure corresponds to almost half of the world’s population.
Perhaps more importantly for meta and its investors, we can say that daily active users continue to increase. Facebook’s daily active users reached 2.064 billion, up from 2.037 billion last quarter. This growth is significant because in the last quarter of 2021, Facebook reported a quarterly decline in daily active users for the first time. This growth may be partly due to the TikTok copycat Reels feature that Meta uses heavily on Instagram and Facebook. According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Reels is played 200 billion times a day across the app family.
Meta had a successful quarter, reporting an 11 percent increase in revenue ($32 billion) and a 16 percent improvement in net income ($7.8 billion), largely driven by advertising. Mark Zuckerber on Twitter… said about X-rival Threads: “We’ve seen unprecedented growth from day one, and more importantly, we’re seeing more people coming back than I expected every day.” However, it is known that the number of active users of Threads has dropped drastically.
